Nigel: Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to GCW Ignition! I’m Nigel Alexander and joining me as always is…
Lola: Hey everyone, it’s Lola Sparkle here! Man Nigel, I’m so excited for the Eckert and Haggerty tag tourney.
Nigel: Me too Lola. 8 teams have been randomly selected and now they must all work together to earn the right to challenge the Conspiracy at the next Pay-Per-View.
Lola: And tonight, we have the first match of the tournament as Simon Cade teams up with the returning Answer as they take on The Belfast Brawler and Magnum Kennedy P.I.
Nigel: But first, our owner Kidd West has issued an open challenge for his United States Championship and we await to see who will take up the challenge in the hopes of winning the gold.
Kidd West vs Danny Gordy
In the inaugural Kidd West US open challenge, Danny Gordy took the opportunity to make a name for himself early on in this career. Danny even started out on top, keeping Kidd West down with hard hitting punches and slams. The crowd seemed to detest Danny as he gloated constantly throughout the punishment. However, Kidd found his opening after Danny failed to lock in the end of the line and the comeback was on. Kidd was nearly impossible to stop as he kept the momentum on his side, eventually hitting Judge and Jury to finish the match and retain his title.
Nigel: A good showing from Danny tonight but it’s not enough to take the US championship off Kidd West.
Lola: I wonder who will step up next week? There are so many people it could be.
Nigel: We’ll shall have to wait and see but right now, we have our newly crowned International Champion Andrew Jordan taking on one of GCW’s originals, Drew Murdock.
Lola: Can Andrew take the momentum from his win at Heatwave and keep it going for this match? We’ll shall see.
Andrew Jordan vs Drew Murdock
The match didn’t start straight away as just before the bell was rung, someone came out…Kenji Yamada. Andrew smiled at Kenji who waved back before sitting by Nigel and Lola on commentary, not to talk but to examine Andrews performance. What he did see was a great showing from both men. Drew brought out the best in Andrew as he reminded everyone why he was one of the best GCW originals. Andrew struggled to gain momentum until Drew took too long in gloating after a suicide dive. Andrew was able to recover quickly and use his MMA background to beat Drew down until he could hit the dragon combo and immediately go for the Korean Bomb, securing the pinfall victory. After the match, Kenji applauded Andrew before walking off to the back, leaving Andrew to celebrate with the crowd.
Nigel: A very interesting set up as Kenji makes his presence known to Andrew. Kenji has a guaranteed championship match whenever he wants so Andrew needs to be watching his back.
Lola: I don’t think he needs to. If I know Kenji, he’ll do the honourable thing and issue the challenge in advance instead of attacking him from behind.
Nigel: I’m not too sure, he has been acting differently as of late. But enough about that for now, we have reached the first tag team match.
Lola: Hooray! Come on Nigel, let’s get ready.
Simon Cade and The Answer vs The Belfast Brawler and Magnum Kennedy P.I
The match begins with Simon Cade and the Belfast Brawler in the ring but the crowd begin to cheer for the Answer. The Answer reaches out for the tag, firing himself up ready for his entrance into the match. Simon leans in to tag the Answer…but fakes out at the last second before turning around and beating the Brawler down. Simon continues to work on the Brawler on the ground, keeping him away from Magnum but not too close to the Answer so he could get a blind tag. Simon lifts the Brawler up before slamming him back down with a Michinoku Driver. The Belfast Brawler kicks out of a pin attempt before rolling to his corner to tag in Magnum Kennedy. The crowd once again cheer for the Answer to make an appearance but once again Simon ignores them. However, as he charges at Magnum, he is tripped over, sending him crashing to the mat. Magnum uses the opportunity to keep Simon at his corner, tagging in and out with the Brawler to keep each other fresh. They hit a few basic tag team moves on Simon before they go for their finisher, a clothesline into a Russian leg sweep. The Brawler runs to the ropes before running back…and hitting Magnum instead as Simon rolls out of the way. With everyone down, the Answer begins to hype up the crowd for a third time, running across the apron like a madman as Simon crawls back over to him. Simon looks up to Answer before muttering “fine” and tagging him in leading to a large crowd reaction. The Answer proceeds to go to town on the duo with clotheslines and dropkicks before sending the Belfast Brawler out of the ring. With Magnum alone, the Answer signals to the crowd as he climbs the ropes, and hits the graceful calamity. As he goes for the pin, The Belfast Brawler begins to make his way back in to save his partner until Simon charges in, hitting a morality check on the Brawler to allow Answer to pick up the win for his team. After the match, the pair shake hands before celebrating together.
Nigel: Well it appears Simon has finally warmed to Answer as the duo pick up the win in our first quarter final match.
Lola: What a performance by the most unlikely of partners. It really does show how the tournament can lead to so many surprises.
Nigel: Right you are Lola. That’s all from us at GCW Ignition. I’ve been Nigel Alexander…
Lola: And I’ve been Lola Sparkle…
Nigel: And thank you for joining us.
