Dan Henderson RP vs Kidd West & Daniel Collins
Dan Henderson sits on a black steel chair in a backstage hallway, wearing blue jeans and a replica of the T-shirt worn by the hero Starlord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. There's a more somber look on Dan's face than usual as he looks at the camera.
Dan Henderson: There comes a time in every man or woman's life when they must sit down, think, and ask themselves, "What am I doing here?" This question is one I thought I would never ask myself for the longest time, because in my mind I had it all figured out. I would head over to GCW and do what I've always wanted to do since I was a little boy, wrestle, and I have done exactly that. I've already grappled with some of the best this company has to offer, heck, I'm teaming with a currant contender for the world championship, Mason James! So this... emptiness I feel can't be from a lack of opportunity, because I have had plenty of opportunities. The hardcore rumble, the IC number one contender shots, my team with Mason; this match I have against Kidd and Collins is just the tip of the iceberg!
And yet, time after time again, I've come up short. Hell, sometimes I don't even come close to succeeding. I've taken my fair share of beatings, humiliations, and defeats in my small amount of time here, and yet I keep getting up only to get knocked down again!
Dan then holds his head in his hands for a moment, regaining his composure.
Dan Henderson: Frankly, I don't think I have been giving my best these past couple of weeks, and it's not fair. It's not fair to my fans, it's not fair to my tag partner, and it's not fair to my Mom and Dad who allowed their son to leave the comfortable life they had prepared for him to chase his dream. My Dad called me a couple of days ago, and he said something that has stuck with me.
He said "Son, if you're not giving this your best effort, you might as well quit," and while at that moment I was offended at what he said, I see his point clearly. I haven't been giving you people the best of Dan Henderson. I've given you the dancing fool Dan Henderson. The fat comic relief Dan Henderson. The JOKE... Dan Henderson.
Dan Henderson takes another moment to calm himself before continuing.
Dan Henderson: Don't get me wrong, I love entertaining all of you. Having fun and making people smile makes this all worth it to me, but I don't want to be labeled as a joke. Like everyone else in the back wrestling is my passion, scratch that, it's my life, and I want to make a living off it. Last I checked, clowns don't make good paychecks.
This "slump" that I'm in, however, will end this Friday. I'm going to give this tables match everything that I've got. Kidd West is a legend here in GCW, and Daniel Collins looks like a very promising prospect, but I have a warning for both of them.
When you get in the ring with me at Mayhem, you won't be dealing with "The Chubby Little Underdog From Up North," you will be dealing with a man who wants to prove that he belongs, and if I have to hurt both of you to show my worth to not just this company, but this industry, than so be it.
In short, good luck.
With that, a determined Dan Henderson gets up and walks off camera, bringing the promo to an end.
