Nigel: Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the first ever edition of GCW Ignition. I’m Nigel Alexander, the former owner of GCW
who has been demoted to Commentary and I am joined by…
Lola: Awwe don't be such a downer Nigel! Hey Everyone! I’m Lola Sparkle and I’m happy to be one of your commentators this evening.
Nigel: Yeah, right. We’ve got a great show tonight… some stellar talents on show and a title match later for those who are interested!
Darling Stargazer vs Ayumi
A very closely contested bout as Darling took on Ayumi. Early on it seemed Darling had the upper-hand, preventing Ayumi from getting too much offense in by any means necessary. Despite this, Ayumi used the crowd’s enthusiasm to instigate a comeback and begin to take control of the match. However, after a swift rake to the eyes by Darling to get out of the Ayumi lock, Darling was able to connect with a Dark side of the Rainbow to seal the deal and win the first match on Ignition.
Dan Collins vs Kidd West vs Steve Wolf
Nigel: And here we are with the triple threat match consisting of Kidd West, Daniel Collins and Stev… wait a second, I am just receiving word that we are going to cut to backstage.
*Backstage, we see several referees and backstage officials crowded around Steve Wolf who is rolling on the floor clutching his eyes as he screams in pain, blood dripping down the side of his face*
Lola: Oh my God! Who would do such a thing? What about the triple threat …match? What are we going to…
Nigel: Lola, calm down. I would presume the match will now be a singles match between Daniel Collins and Kidd West.
The match itself began just like everyone would expect, with Kidd West instantly taking control of the less inexperienced Daniel. Kidd kept taking the chance to mock Dan with every attack and it only resulted in the crowd urging Dan on even more. Despite Kidd keeping constant control of the match throughout, there was never a moment where he could finish Dan off due to his persistent nature. Furious at this, Kidd decided to teach the new guy a lesson and went to grab his signature sledgehammer. The referee obviously stopped Kidd but just as he was able to wrestle it off him, Daniel swooped in with a roll up to grab the surprise upset.
Collins, with little time to celebrate fled backstage as an angered West started attacking the referee, West started punching and kicking the official, causing several members of security to rush in and pull him away from the ref. West started shouting loudly about how the ref should ‘Pack his things and get out’ and that he ‘Shouldn’t have crossed the boss’. Security drags an angered and tense West backstage.
Mason Childers vs. El Masko
“Bleed for a Living” begins playing as El Masko steps out, wearing sunglasses and carrying out his kendo stick and a new trash can, with something already inside it.
Nigel: “Well, as you fans know Masko was defeated last Sunday at Mayhem, however our new owners decided he deserved another chance at the Hardcore Title, somehow.”
Lola: “Aww, Nigel, don’t view it that way! It was the fans who were cheering Masko on, and he deserves this shot!”
Masko runs towards the ring, putting the kendo stick into the trash can in order to high five as many fans as possible, before he stops at the ring. He places his trash can on the ground, and pulls out his trademark boombox, which he places on the ground as well.
Lola: “YES! The boombox is back!”
Masko then hops onto the apron and climbs to the top rope. He makes a looking motion, and climbs back down to give a young fan his sunglasses before rolling into the ring.
“Balls to the Wall” by Accept begins playing as the lights go out. The song continues playing until the line “WATCH THE DAMNED!” hits, where a spotlight shines at the top of the ramp, revealing Mason Childers, taking a knee.
Nigel: “And here comes our Champion…”
The chorus then hits, and a wall of fire explodes behind Mason, who finally stands up. From there, the lights come back up and Mason throws his hands up into the air in a "stand up" motion to rally the crowd behind him. He picks one audience member to high five at the end of the ramp before he turns the corner and walks up the steel steps. He enters the ring and spreads his arms apart as if to symbolically embrace the crowd. He awaits Masko in the opposing corner.
Fink: “The following contest is scheduled for one fall…”
Crowd: “ONE FALL!”
Fink: “And is a no disqualification match for the GCW Hardcore Championship! Introducing first, the challenger. From El Paso, Texas, weighing in at 180lbs, El Masko!”
The crowd pops modestly as Masko poses to the audience.
Fink: “And his opponent, from Gordo, Alabama, weighing in at 365lbs, he is the current GCW Hardcore Champion, Mason Childers!”
Mason poses with the belt, the crowd giving about the same pop that they did for Masko.
Nigel: “Big fight feel here on the first episode of Ignition, with this Hardcore title match!”
Lola: “I’m just so excited! I can’t wait!”
The bell rings, and Masko immediately rushes Mason whilst screaming. Being caught off guard, Mason doesn’t dodge in time, and is caught with a lariat, sending him into the turnbuckle before he rolls out of the ring. Masko follows pursuit, and begins pummeling Mason, who is caught between Masko and the barricade.
Nigel: “Masko wasting no time here, he wants that Hardcore Title badly and he’s showing it with these strikes!”
Masko continues pummeling Mason, before rolling him into the ring and grabbing the kendo stick from his trash can. However, as he gets into the ring, Mason has continued to roll and rolled to the other side of the ring. Masko looks at the camera with an exasperated expression before preparing to go out the ring, deciding to try leaving the ring head first… for some reason. Mason is prepared this time, however, and whacks Masko in the head with a kendo stick of his own, sending Masko back into the ring.
Lola: “Big kendo stick shot by Mason, I may just have to turn away from this match if it gets any worse.”
Nigel: “Really? There’s not even any blood!”
Lola: “I’m squeamish, ok? I don’t want to see any blood!”
Masko gets back on his feet as Mason gets into the ring, and the 2 stare each other down, kendo sticks in hand. They both go for a swing, and the kendo sticks collide with each other. They try another swing, and again the sticks collide. This back and forth continues for a while, with neither man hitting the other with their kendo stick.
Nigel: “This is wrestling, not Star Wars! Start wrestling!”
Lola: “Why are you yelling at them for this? The crowd seems to be loving it.”
The two continue their stick battle, until Mason overpowers Masko, sending his kendo stick away. Masko begins backing off, but Mason is able to catch him in the side with a swing, giving him an opportunity to continue the offense, delivering shot after shot to the midsection of Masko. Eventually, Masko grabs the stick as Mason is swinging it, and takes it from him. He wags his finger at him, grabs hold of the proper end, and begins hitting Mason in the midsection repeatedly with the kendo stick, until it finally breaks.
Nigel: “These two actually broke the kendo stick, damn!”
Masko simply shrugs before beginning to pummel Mason once again, sending him into the ropes before whipping him off and hitting a flying forearm, followed by a 2nd one. He then attempts to follow it up with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors, but Mason counters the set up to it into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
Nigel: “Big counter by Mason! Perhaps he can shift the momentum back to his favour?”
Mason, taking advantage of Masko’s positioning, hits a running splash on Masko, and keeps him down for a cover, with the ref counting to 2 before Masko is able to kick out.
Lola: “Masko kicked out! He still has fight left in him!”
Nigel: “Surprisingly…”
Mason, looking aggravated, picks Masko up and hits a double underhook suplex on him, before rolling out of the ring and grabbing a table.
Nigel: “Mason’s grabbing another destructive tool to take out Masko.”
Lola: “It’s a weapon, Nigel, it is called a weapon.”
Mason slides the table into the ring, and rolls in himself, Masko just starting to get up. He walks over to Mason who seems to be having slight trouble getting the table up for some reason, makes an “Allow Me” gesture, and helps Mason pick up the table. They both stare at each other for a second after setting the table up, and then begin brawling with each other once again. The brawling continues for a few minutes, going back and forth until Masko, due to having better stamina than Mason, is able to take advantage, and knocks Mason into the turnbuckle with the table behind him. He props Mason up onto the table, and climbs up the turnbuckle.
Nigel: “This doesn’t look good for either of the two…”
Masko, once on top of the turnbuckle, screams to the crowd “ALLO!” and jumps off……….
He flies off the turnbuckle, going for a frog splash……….
And hits it!
Nigel: “MASKO HITS IT! HE HIT THE FROG SPLASH, AND BOTH MEN ARE NOT MOVING!”
Both men are on their back, either moving. The ref looks on, and looks like he is about to check if either man can continue, but both men begin stirring, both attempting to roll over to try and cover the other…
Nigel: “Thank god, both men are moving!”
Lola: “It’s a race to see who can get the cover! Who’ll win?!”
Both men attempt to roll onto the other, but Mason is able to get there first, and covers Masko, one arm draped over his chest. The referee begins his count:
1…
2…
Masko puts a single finger onto the ropes
3!
“Balls to the Wall” begins to play once again as Mason rolls back over, breathing heavily as the ref runs over and drapes the belt over his midsection.
Fink: “HERE IS YOUR WINNER, AND STILL GCW HARDCORE CHAMPION… MASON CHILDERS!”
Nigel: “I can’t believe it… Mason won. Even after the frog splash through the table, he actually won.”
Lola: “What a fight from El Masko though, that man has the heart of a champion, that’s for sure.”
Nigel: “But clearly, he isn’t a champion. Mason Childers, however, is still a champion.”
Lola: “Well, in any case, thank you for watching the debut episode of Ignition, and we’ll see you next week!”
“Balls to the Wall” continues to play as the GCW credits roll, before the show fades to black.
