Nigel: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to GCW Ignition! I'm Nigel Alexander and joining me as always is my commentary partner....
Lola: Hello Everyone! I'm Lola Sparkle and i'm hap-
Nigel: Lola! Why do you keep cutting me off in my introductions?
Lola: I'm sorry Nigel, i'm just so excited to see what the GCW wrestlers will do tonight.
Nigel: *sigh* Ok then. Anyway, let's start the show off with the first match of the night, Chiyoko Uzuki versus Darling Stargazer.
Chiyoko Uzuki vs. Darling Stargazer
A great way to open the night off as Chiyoko kept the pressure on Darling constantly. Darling didn't seem to give 100% as she made several key errors which helped to give Chiyoko the momentum back. Chiyoko really showed her potential throughout and was able to seal the deal by connecting with the Cupid's arrow to get the 1 2 3 victory.
Nigel: A great showing by Chiyoko picking up the win this week. She's got a lot of potential to go the distance and challenge Marcia for the women's title.
Lola: That's great and all Nigel, but we should get ready to watch my buddy Jensen take on the returning Drew Murdock. This is surely going to be a classic.
Nigel: Lola, we are meant to be impartial in these... oh nevermind.
Jensen vs. Drew Murdock
Lola was not wrong as Jensen and Drew put on an instant classic. Both men used their speed to keep the match intensity up consistently and keep the fans on the edge of their seats. Jensen used his momentum from the title match win to keep Drew challenged throughout. But in a surprise upset, Drew was able to catch Jensen out and hit the Damnatio Memoriae to pickup the win. After the match the pair shook hands in respect for each others performances in the match.
Nigel: A fantastic match there with Drew coming out victorious. Oh, it appears that Jensen is coming to sit with us on commentary for our next match.
Lola: I course he is. He wants to scout out the competition in the next match.
Nigel: Of course, our main event of the evening is an international championship number one contendership match pitting Kenji Yamada against Andrew Jordan.
Kenji Yamada vs. Andrew Jordan
Fink: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for one fall and will determine the number one contender for the International Championship. Introducing first, from Seoul, South Korea, weighing in at 245 pounds, Andrew Jordan!
*The arena lights go out as the sounds of Sandstorm erupt through the sound system. An orange glow begins to emit from the aisle as Andrew makes his way to the ring. He slides in and leans against the turnbuckle waiting for his opponent.*
Fink: And his opponent, from Tokyo, Japan, weighing in at 215 pounds, Kenji Yamada!
*Pride of Lions begins to play as Kenji Yamada emerges from backstage. However, he is not dancing around like he normally is. Instead he is walking down to the ring while stretching off his arms. The crowd seem confused as Kenji simply rolls into the ring and walks up to Andrew, offering a handshake, which he accepts*
Nigel: It seems we have a much more serious Kenji Yamada tonight. We will have to see how this affects the match.
*The referee calls for the bell and both Andrew and Kenji face off in martial art style stances, seemingly foreshadowing the rough nature the match might become. They both lock up, with Andrew getting the advantage and pushing Kenji into the corner. As the referee pulls them away, Andrew is able to hit Kenji’s leg with his own and signalling for Kenji to “bring it on.” Kenji runs at Andrew for a clothesline but it is dodged as Andrew wraps his arms around Kenji to hit a German suplex. Andrew gets up first and runs to the ropes and connects with a running knee to the chest of a kneeling Kenji*
Lola: Woah! There goes all the wind from Kenji’s lungs!
*Andrew lifts Kenji back up and softens his stomach with a few punches before launching him to the corner. He charges at Kenji who moves out of the way before connecting with a roundhouse kick to a rebounding Andrew. As Andrew hits the ground, Kenji grabs his head and begins to attack it with hard punches. Andrew is able to toss Kenji out of the way but is only with met with a diving forearm and another series of punches. Once he is satisfied, Kenji lifts Andrew back up and begins to kick his stomach with yet another series of strikes. After around 10 kicks, Andrew falls to the ground and Kenji goes for the pin…1…2…Andrew kicks out*
Nigel: I have never seen Kenji be so vicious as he is being right now. I have a feeling this match is going to get ugly.
*Frustrated, Kenji gets up and shouts for Andrew to get up as well. As he does, Kenji runs over to the opposite corner before charging in with a shotgun dropkick. He rolls back to his feet and grabs Andrews head. He looks over to the other corner and runs with Andrew…connecting with reverberance*
Lola: Reverberance by Kenji! This one could be all over…1…2…Andrew Kicks out!
Nigel: What will it take to keep Andrew Jordan down?
*Kenji is now furious as he grabs Andrew’s head in a headlock. The referee begins to ask Andrew if he want to give up, with him audibly shouting “NO!” The crowd begin to get behind Andrew as he struggles to make it back to his feet, he eventually does and is able to push Kenji to the ropes. Kenji rebounds and is hit with a clothesline. He gets back up, and is hit with a second clothesline. The third time he gets up, Andrew grabs him and hits a strong michinoku driver. Andrew rises to his feet and screams to the crowd who are now fully behind him. He waits for Kenji to get to his feet and charges at him, but is hit with a superkick straight to the jaw*
Nigel: A strong comeback but it only takes one kick from Kenji to end it all.
Lola: I wouldn’t be so sure, Andrew has shown he has a lot of fight in him.
*Kenji steps back, exhausted from the match and looks over to Jensen who is still watching at ringside. He nods to Jensen and then looks back to Andrew who is on all fours. Kenji points at Andrew and tries to hit Drop the Bass…but fails as Andrew dodges out the way! As Kenji staggers to his feet he is met by Andrew who delivers one of the strongest punches he has ever swung as the sound echoes around the arena. Kenji struggles to stay on his feet as blood begins to pour down from his nose. Before he falls over, Andrew grabs a hold of Kenji and hits a Korean bomb in the centre of the ring! He goes for the pin…1…2…3!*
Nigel: Andrew has done it! He has survived the vicious onslaught of Kenji and is now the number one contender for Jensen’s international championship.
Lola: After a series of defeats this will definitely help out Andrew in boosting some much-needed confidence.
*As Andrew celebrates in the ring. Kenji makes his way back to his feet, trying to recover from the punch. The pair meet in the centre of the ring and stare at each other before Kenji extends his hand for a handshake which Andrew accepts. Kenji raises Andrews hand, signalling there is no bad blood between them. Afterwards Kenji rolls out and makes his way up the ramp when he passes Jensen on his way to the ring. The two stares at each other with no words exchanged*
Nigel: That, ladies and gentlemen, is a kind of “this isn’t over” stare. I am sure Kenji and Jensen will meet further down the road.
*After the exchange, Jensen rolls into the ring and meets Andrew who stands up to the champion. The two stare each other down before shaking hands, signalling the start of a respectful rivalry*
